Need More Information on RORO Skip Hire?

RORO skips are ideal for projects that generate high amounts of waste, including demolition jobs and major construction.

RORO skips – short for roll-on roll-off skips – are oversized waste containers designed for disposing of large volumes of waste. Unlike traditional skips, a RORO skip is delivered and collected using a specialist lorry that rolls the skip on and off (hence the name) rather than lifting it.

    Types of RORO Skips

At Syte Link, we’ll tailor our service specifically to your needs. This includes supplying you with a RORO skip that suits the requirements of your project. We have a variety of sizes, including:

    • 20 yard RORO skip (200 sacks) – Ideal for heavy waste like soil, concrete and bricks.
    • 30 yard RORO skip (300 sacks) – Perfect for bulky wood, metal, plastics and other materials.
    • 40 yard RORO skip (400 sacks) – Our largest available skip that is great for major clearances.

If you’re unsure which size is best for you, our experienced team will be able to recommend the right option for your project.

    Benefits of RORO Skips

When dealing with large amounts of waste, RORO skips are usually the best option. Standard builders’ skips don’t have the capacity required for larger jobs, but RORO skips mean that fewer collections will be needed and offer a lower cost per tonne of waste.

Some of the main benefits of RORO skips include:

    • High capacity: Move large quantities of waste quickly, reducing the need for multiple skips.
    • Improved site safety: Keep your site clean and organised with reduced clutter and hazards.
    • Cost savings: Fewer pickups mean less money spent on your waste management.
    • Time efficiency: With fewer interruptions for skip exchanges, your team can stay focused on the job at hand.

What Can’t Go In A RORO Skip?

Although RORO skips are extremely versatile, there are some restrictions you should be aware of before placing an order. Not everything can be placed inside and some items that must never be disposed of in a RORO skip include:

    • Asbestos
    • Gas cylinders
    • Tyres
    • Mattresses
    • Lithium ion batteries
    • Chemicals
    • Solvents
    • Plasterboard
    • Liquids
    • Paint tins
    • Clinical waste
    • Aerosols

If you place any prohibited materials in a skip, you will face additional charges. This could be costly and delay your project, so always make sure to discuss your needs with the Syte Link team. We have a dedicated hazardous waste service that can handle these materials.

How Long Can I Keep A RORO Skip?

At Syte Link, we offer flexible hire periods that are tailored to your project’s needs. Whether you need a RORO skip for a short-term project or a longer period of time, we will always accommodate your needs.

If your skip is placed on private land, like a private building site or business premises, there are no specific time restrictions, and you can usually keep it for as long as it is needed.

However, if the skip needs to be placed on public land, like a road or the pavement, a skip permit will be required. These can be obtained by contacting your local authority. Usually, they will be granted for one to two weeks, but can be renewed if necessary.

We can apply for skip permits for RORO skips on your behalf.
