Asbestos Skip Hire FAQs
What is Asbestos and why is it dangerous?
What is Asbestos:
Asbestos is a naturally occurring material that was widely used in construction projects during the 20th Century. The use of asbestos was finally banned in 1999 when it was uncovered that asbestos was linked to being the cause of long-term health-related illnesses. If your home was built or refurbished before the 1990s there is a high probability that there may be asbestos within the property. To be certain we conduct a thorough asbestos survey which will identify if there is any asbestos in the property and if so what kind – this way we can ensure we are fully equipped to effectively deal with it
Where it can be found:
Asbestos can be found in many different areas and can come in many forms. Areas in which asbestos can be found include:
– Walls and Tiling
– Ceiling Tiles
– Roofing Sheets
– Water Tanks
– Pipes
Here at SyteLink we are leading professionals in asbestos removal and always dispose of all hazardous waste in an efficient and environmentally friendly manor
Why is it dangerous:
It is critical that asbestos is removed as it is known to be cause or contributing factor to a wide range of long-term health issues, with the worst effects being when a person is exposed to asbestos over a long period of time.
There is currently no known way to reverse the damage Asbestos can do to someone’s health

We suggest that an Asbestos skip is kept off road and away from the public, also that you use an enclosed and lockable skip when dealing with asbestos waste – this minimises any safety hazards that could be caused
However if you cannot place it on private land, to place an Asbestos skip on a public highway, road, or pavement you will need a skip license. This is something we are able to support with and apply for on your behalf, including it in the cost of the skip hire service we offer to you
Additional Requirements:
Depending on the size of Asbestos skip that you need, as well as the length of time you plan on keeping it to store Asbestos waste, there may be some additional requirements such as:

How long can I keep my Asbestos Skip?
How long you can keep your hired Asbestos skip depends heavily on whether you require a skip license or permit to complete your skip hire request
Private Property
If you plan to keep your hired skip on private property such as a driveway or front garden, then there is no set time limit and you are able to keep your skip for as long as you need it. That is, provided that it does not cause any environmental or health hazards while it is being used to store waste.
Other – License Required
If a skip license was required to complete your skip hire then in most cases these licenses last between 7-14 days and if you want to extend this then you would need to apply for a license renewal and ensure to have it granted before your first license period ends
In most cases we can apply for the skip license on your behalf and include it in the overall cost of the service. We can also advise you on the daily rates for parking permits if you need to suspend a parking space for the skip, and apply to your local authority to obtain the permit.
